Objectives

Objectives for Undergraduate Students

By the end of the course, undergraduate students will be able to:

  1. Describe the structure, classification, growth, and cultivation of microorganisms.
  2. Explain the basic principles of microbial genetics and antimicrobial resistance.
  3. Discuss the role of microorganisms in disease causation, transmission, and prevention.
  4. Describe the microbiological and clinical aspects of bacterial, viral, parasitic and fungal diseases.
  5. Apply fundamental microbiological knowledge to the understanding of common infectious diseases encountered in clinical practice.

 

 

Objectives for Postgraduate Candidates

At the completion of the program, postgraduate candidates should be able to:

Explain the clinical and microbiological aspects of bacteriology, virology, parasitology, mycology, and molecular biology. Interpret microbiological findings relevant to clinical diagnosis and patient management. Apply microbiological and molecular biological principles in community and clinical medicine. Integrate microbiological knowledge into promotive, preventive, and curative healthcare practices. Evaluate current developments and advances in medical microbiology and molecular biology. Apply microbiological knowledge in research, teaching, and professional practice. Contribute to the prevention, diagnosis, and control of infectious diseases in community and healthcare settings.
