DEPARTMENTAL OBJECTIVES
At the end of the course of instruction, the learners should be able to acquire the knowledge of:
1. the normal and abnormal process of childbearing.
- the structure and function of the female reproductive organ system and their disorders.
- the common obstetrics and gynaecologic problems in Myanmar.
Skill of:
- working up a relevant case history and perform a systematic obstetric and gynaecological examination.
- managing normal pregnancy and labour.
- recognizing abnormal pregnancy and labour and deal with them and refer when necessary.
- recognizing and managing common gynaecological disorders.
- giving treatment in cases of obstetrics and gynaecological emergencies.
- conducting community orientated obstetric programme (CBL).
- prioritizing common obstetric and gynaecological problems in the country.
Attitude of:
- caring for patients in conformity with medical ethics.
- being aware of the importance of the place of women in a family and society and the importance of the social aspect of obstetrics and gynaecology.
- being aware that pregnancy, though a physiological process can turn pathological at any stage by being vigilant throughout the course of pregnancy and labour.
- being aware that good obstetric care is preventive gynaecology.
